Meet Dr. Moeller

Dr. Don MoellerDr. Moeller graduated from San Jose State University with a bachelor’s degree in Biological Science with Great Distinction, entered Dental School at the University of California San Francisco and graduated with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree and then joined the US Army Dental Corps.   He completed his Residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center during which time he was also involved in PhD Mentored Research at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Dental Research. This early experience in Surgical Trauma Research motivated him to obtain a graduate degree in Biological Sciences with a Cellular Biology emphasis.

After retiring as Chief of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Martin Army Hospital Fort Moore Georgia, Dr. Moeller entered the University of Alabama Medical School at Birmingham where he received a Doctor of Medicine degree. Dr Moeller completed his Transitional Medical Residency at the Columbus Medical Center and then briefly served as an Assistant Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Augusta University.

Following retirement from a full-time practice in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery he re-entered his career as a Neuroscience Researcher in PTSD associated sleep disorders and Traumatic Brain Injuries. He has published several research papers which reported the ability of an Intraoral Neuromodulator to reduce PTSD associated nightmares, sleep disruptions, headaches, and Disturbing Nocturnal Behaviors. His research has been presented at numerous Medical Conferences as peer-reviewed Posters. He is currently collaborating with several University Professors in this area of research. His research received a Letter of Commendation from the Department of Defense Center for Psychological Trauma.

He is Board Certified in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, past Fellow of the American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, past member of the American Association of Oral Medicine and a current member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.
